Tafsir of Verse 45, Surah Al-An'aam

فَقُطِعَ دَابِرُ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ۚ وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ﴿45﴾

Display verse 45, Surah Al-An'aam in the Quran

English Translation

So the people that committed wrong were eliminated. And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds. (45)

English Transliteration

FaqutiAAa dabiru alqawmi allatheena thalamoo waalhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (45)

Tafsir of Verse 45

So the last remnant of the people who did evil was cut off. Praise belongs to God the Lord of all Being. (45)

Of the wrong-doers the last remnant was cut off. Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher of the worlds. (45)

In the last verse (45), it was said that, when the mass punishment of Allah Ta` ala came, the people who did wrong were uprooted to the last man. Said immediately after was: وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّـهِ رَ‌بِّ الْعَالَمِينَ (And praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds) where the hint given is: Whenever the wrongdoers and the unjust are visited by some punishment or calamity, that is a blessing for the whole world for which people should be grateful.
