حمٓ ﴿1﴾ وَٱلْكِتَٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ ﴿2﴾ إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَٰهُ فِى لَيْلَةٍ مُّبَٰرَكَةٍ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ ﴿3﴾ فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ ﴿4﴾ أَمْرًا مِّنْ عِندِنَآ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ ﴿5﴾ رَحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ﴿6﴾ رَبِّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ ﴿7﴾ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ ۖ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ﴿8﴾ بَلْ هُمْ فِى شَكٍّ يَلْعَبُونَ ﴿9﴾ فَٱرْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِى ٱلسَّمَآءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُّبِينٍ ﴿10﴾ يَغْشَى ٱلنَّاسَ ۖ هَٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ ﴿11﴾ رَّبَّنَا ٱكْشِفْ عَنَّا ٱلْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿12﴾ أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ وَقَدْ جَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مُّبِينٌ ﴿13﴾ ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا۟ مُعَلَّمٌ مَّجْنُونٌ ﴿14﴾ إِنَّا كَاشِفُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ قَلِيلًا ۚ إِنَّكُمْ عَآئِدُونَ ﴿15﴾ يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ ٱلْبَطْشَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ إِنَّا مُنتَقِمُونَ ﴿16﴾ ۞ وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ ﴿17﴾ أَنْ أَدُّوٓا۟ إِلَىَّ عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ ﴿18﴾

حمٓ ﴿1﴾

English Translation

Ha, Meem. (1)

English Transliteration

Hameem (1)

Tafsir of Verse 1

Ha-Mim. (1)

وَٱلْكِتَٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ ﴿2﴾

English Translation

By the clear Book, (2)

English Transliteration

Waalkitabi almubeeni (2)

Tafsir of Verse 2

By the Book that makes things clear;- (2)

إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَٰهُ فِى لَيْلَةٍ مُّبَٰرَكَةٍ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ ﴿3﴾

English Translation

Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind]. (3)

English Transliteration

Inna anzalnahu fee laylatin mubarakatin inna kunna munthireena (3)

Tafsir of Verse 3

We sent it down during a Blessed Night: for We (ever) wish to warn (against Evil). (3)

فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ ﴿4﴾

English Translation

On that night is made distinct every precise matter - (4)

English Transliteration

Feeha yufraqu kullu amrin hakeemin (4)

Tafsir of Verse 4

In the (Night) is made distinct every affair of wisdom, (4)

أَمْرًا مِّنْ عِندِنَآ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ ﴿5﴾

English Translation

[Every] matter [proceeding] from Us. Indeed, We were to send [a messenger] (5)

English Transliteration

Amran min AAindina inna kunna mursileena (5)

Tafsir of Verse 5

By command, from Our Presence. For We (ever) send (revelations), (5)

رَحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ﴿6﴾

English Translation

As mercy from your Lord. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. (6)

English Transliteration

Rahmatan min rabbika innahu huwa alssameeAAu alAAaleemu (6)

Tafsir of Verse 6

As Mercy from thy Lord: for He hears and knows (all things); (6)

رَبِّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ ﴿7﴾

English Translation

Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them, if you would be certain. (7)

English Transliteration

Rabbi alssamawati waalardi wama baynahuma in kuntum mooqineena (7)

Tafsir of Verse 7

The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all between them, if ye (but) have an assured faith. (7)

لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ ۖ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ﴿8﴾

English Translation

There is no deity except Him; He gives life and causes death. [He is] your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers. (8)

English Transliteration

La ilaha illa huwa yuhyee wayumeetu rabbukum warabbu abaikumu alawwaleena (8)

Tafsir of Verse 8

There is no god but He: It is He Who gives life and gives death,- The Lord and Cherisher to you and your earliest ancestors. (8)

بَلْ هُمْ فِى شَكٍّ يَلْعَبُونَ ﴿9﴾

English Translation

But they are in doubt, amusing themselves. (9)

English Transliteration

Bal hum fee shakkin yalAAaboona (9)

Tafsir of Verse 9

Yet they play about in doubt. (9)

فَٱرْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِى ٱلسَّمَآءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُّبِينٍ ﴿10﴾

English Translation

Then watch for the Day when the sky will bring a visible smoke. (10)

English Transliteration

Fairtaqib yawma tatee alssamao bidukhanin mubeenin (10)

Tafsir of Verse 10

Then watch thou for the Day that the sky will bring forth a kind of smoke (or mist) plainly visible, (10)

يَغْشَى ٱلنَّاسَ ۖ هَٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ ﴿11﴾

English Translation

Covering the people; this is a painful torment. (11)

English Transliteration

Yaghsha alnnasa hatha AAathabun aleemun (11)

Tafsir of Verse 11

Enveloping the people: this will be a Penalty Grievous. (11)

رَّبَّنَا ٱكْشِفْ عَنَّا ٱلْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿12﴾

English Translation

[They will say], "Our Lord, remove from us the torment; indeed, we are believers." (12)

English Transliteration

Rabbana ikshif AAanna alAAathaba inna muminoona (12)

Tafsir of Verse 12

(They will say:) "Our Lord! remove the Penalty from us, for we do really believe!" (12)

أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ وَقَدْ جَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مُّبِينٌ ﴿13﴾

English Translation

How will there be for them a reminder [at that time]? And there had come to them a clear Messenger. (13)

English Transliteration

Anna lahumu alththikra waqad jaahum rasoolun mubeenun (13)

Tafsir of Verse 13

How shall the message be (effectual) for them, seeing that an Messenger explaining things clearly has (already) come to them,- (13)

ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا۟ مُعَلَّمٌ مَّجْنُونٌ ﴿14﴾

English Translation

Then they turned away from him and said, "[He was] taught [and is] a madman." (14)

English Transliteration

Thumma tawallaw AAanhu waqaloo muAAallamun majnoonun (14)

Tafsir of Verse 14

Yet they turn away from him and say: "Tutored (by others), a man possessed!" (14)

إِنَّا كَاشِفُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ قَلِيلًا ۚ إِنَّكُمْ عَآئِدُونَ ﴿15﴾

English Translation

Indeed, We will remove the torment for a little. Indeed, you [disbelievers] will return [to disbelief]. (15)

English Transliteration

Inna kashifoo alAAathabi qaleelan innakum AAaidoona (15)

Tafsir of Verse 15

We shall indeed remove the Penalty for a while, (but) truly ye will revert (to your ways). (15)

يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ ٱلْبَطْشَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ إِنَّا مُنتَقِمُونَ ﴿16﴾

English Translation

The Day We will strike with the greatest assault, indeed, We will take retribution. (16)

English Transliteration

Yawma nabtishu albatshata alkubra inna muntaqimoona (16)

Tafsir of Verse 16

One day We shall seize you with a mighty onslaught: We will indeed (then) exact Retribution! (16)

۞ وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ ﴿17﴾

English Translation

And We had already tried before them the people of Pharaoh, and there came to them a noble messenger, (17)

English Transliteration

Walaqad fatanna qablahum qawma firAAawna wajaahum rasoolun kareemun (17)

Tafsir of Verse 17

We did, before them, try the people of Pharaoh: there came to them a messenger most honourable, (17)

أَنْ أَدُّوٓا۟ إِلَىَّ عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ ﴿18﴾

English Translation

[Saying], "Render to me the servants of Allah. Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger," (18)

English Transliteration

An addoo ilayya AAibada Allahi innee lakum rasoolun ameenun (18)

Tafsir of Verse 18

Saying: "Restore to me the Servants of Allah: I am to you an messenger worthy of all trust; (18)
