And when the stars fall, dispersing, (2)

And when the wild beasts are gathered (5)

And when the seas are filled with flame (6)

And when the sky is stripped away (11)

Waitha al ssama o kushit at (11)

And when Hellfire is set ablaze (12)

Waitha aljah eemu suAAAAirat (12)

When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; (12)

And when Paradise is brought near, (13)

Waitha aljannatu ozlifat (13)

And when the Garden is brought near;- (13)

A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. (14)

AAalimat nafsun ma ahd arat (14)

(Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. (14)

So I swear by the retreating stars - (15)

So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, (15)

Those that run [their courses] and disappear - (16)

And by the night as it closes in (17)

Waa llayli itha AAasAAasa (17)

And by the dawn when it breathes (18)

Waal ss ubh i itha tanaffasa (18)

And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- (18)

[That] indeed, the Qur\'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger (19)
English Transliteration
Innahu laqawlu rasoolin kareemin (19)

Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, (19)

[Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], (20)

Th ee quwwatin AAinda th ee alAAarshi makeenin (20)

Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, (20)

Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. (21)

Muta AAin thamma ameenin (21)

With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. (21)

And your companion is not [at all] mad. (22)

Wama sah ibukum bimajnoonin (22)

And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; (22)

And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. (23)

Walaqad raa hu bia lofuqi almubeeni (23)

And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. (23)

And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. (24)
English Transliteration
Wama huwa AAala alghaybi bid aneenin (24)

Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. (24)

And the Qur\'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. (25)

Wama huwa biqawli shayta nin rajeemin (25)

Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. (25)

So where are you going? (26)
English Transliteration
Faayna tath haboona (26)

It is not except a reminder to the worlds (27)

In huwa illa th ikrun lilAAa lameena (27)

Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: (27)

For whoever wills among you to take a right course. (28)

Liman sha a minkum an yastaqeema (28)

(With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: (28)

And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds. (29)

Wama tasha oona illa an yasha a Alla hu rabbu alAAa lameena (29)
