Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word. (5)

Inna sanulqee AAalayka qawlan thaqeela n (5)

Behold, We shall cast upon thee a weighty word; (5)
English Translation
Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words. (6)

Inna na shiata allayli hiya ashaddu wat an waaqwamu qeela n (6)

surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, (6)

Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation. (7)

Inna laka fee al nnaha ri sabh an t aweela n (7)

surely in the day thou hast long business. (7)
English Translation
And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with [complete] devotion. (8)

Wao th kuri isma rabbika watabattal ilayhi tabteela n (8)

And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. (8)
English Translation
[He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs. (9)
English Transliteration
Rabbu almashriqi waa lmaghribi la ila ha illa huwa fai ttakhith hu wakeela n (9)

Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He; so take Him for a Guardian. (9)
English Translation
And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance. (10)

Wai s bir AAala ma yaqooloona wao hjurhum hajran jameela n (10)

And bear thou patiently what they say, and forsake them graciously. (10)
English Translation
And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little. (11)

Wath arnee waa lmukathth ibeena olee al nnaAAmati wamahhilhum qaleela n (11)

Leave Me to those who cry lies, those prosperous ones, and respite them a little, (11)

Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire (12)

Inna ladayna anka lan wajah eema n (12)

for with Us there are fetters, and a furnace, (12)

And food that chokes and a painful punishment - (13)

Wat aAAa man tha ghuss atin waAAatha ban aleema n (13)

and food that chokes, and a painful chastisement, (13)
English Translation
On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. (14)

Yawma tarjufu alard u waa ljiba lu waka nati aljiba lu katheeban maheela n (14)

upon the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains become a slipping heap of sand. (14)
English Translation
Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger. (15)
English Transliteration
Inna arsalna ilaykum rasoolan sha hidan AAalaykum kama arsalna ila firAAawna rasoola n (15)

Surely We have sent unto you a Messenger as a witness over you, even as We sent to Pharaoh a Messenger, (15)
English Translation
But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure. (16)

FaAAasa firAAawnu al rrasoola faakhath na hu akhth an wabeela n (16)

but Pharaoh rebelled against the Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. (16)
English Translation
Then how can you fear, if you disbelieve, a Day that will make the children white- haired? (17)
English Transliteration
Fakayfa tattaqoona in kafartum yawman yajAAalu alwilda na sheeba n (17)

If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? (17)
English Translation
The heaven will break apart therefrom; ever is His promise fulfilled. (18)

Al ssama o munfat irun bihi ka na waAAduhu mafAAoola n (18)

Whereby heaven shall be split, and its promise shall be performed. (18)
English Translation
Indeed, this is a reminder, so whoever wills may take to his Lord a way. (19)

Inna hath ihi tath kiratun faman sha a ittakhath a ila rabbihi sabeela n (19)
