Tafsir of Verse 64, Surah Taa-Haa

فَأَجْمِعُوا۟ كَيْدَكُمْ ثُمَّ ٱئْتُوا۟ صَفًّا ۚ وَقَدْ أَفْلَحَ ٱلْيَوْمَ مَنِ ٱسْتَعْلَىٰ ﴿64﴾

Display verse 64, Surah Taa-Haa in the Quran

English Translation

So resolve upon your plan and then come [forward] in line. And he has succeeded today who overcomes." (64)

English Transliteration

FaajmiAAoo kaydakum thumma itoo saffan waqad aflaha alyawma mani istaAAla (64)

Tafsir of Verse 64

So gather your guile; then come in battle-line. Whoever today gains the upper hand shall surely prosper. (64)

"Therefore concert your plan, and then assemble in (serried) ranks: He wins (all along) today who gains the upper hand." (64)

فَأَجْمِعُوا كَيْدَكُمْ ثُمَّ ائْتُوا صَفًّا (So, make your plot firm and forth in one row - 20:64). Formation of troops in ranks in battle has an unsettling effect on the enemy, so the Egyptian magicians arranged themselves in ranks for the contest.
