And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. (9)

And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. (9)
English Translation
And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. (10)

FaAAas aw rasoola rabbihim faakhath ahum akhth atan ra biyatan (10)

And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. (10)
English Translation
Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship (11)

Inna lamma t agha alma o h amalna kum fee alja riyati (11)

We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), (11)
English Translation
That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. (12)

LinajAAalaha lakum tath kiratan wataAAiyaha oth unun wa AAiyatun (12)

That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. (12)

Then when the Horn is blown with one blast (13)

Faitha nufikha fee al ss oori nafkhatun wah idatun (13)

Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, (13)
English Translation
And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - (14)

Wah umilati alard u waa ljiba lu fadukkata dakkatan wah idatan (14)

And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- (14)
English Translation
Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, (15)

Fayawmaith in waqaAAati alwa qiAAatu (15)

On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. (15)

And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. (16)

Wai nshaqqati al ssama o fahiya yawmaith in wa hiyatun (16)

And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, (16)

And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. (17)

Waa lmalaku AAala arja iha wayah milu AAarsha rabbika fawqahum yawmaith in thama niyatun (17)

And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. (17)
English Translation
That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. (18)

Yawmaith in tuAArad oona la takhfa minkum kha fiyatun (18)

That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. (18)

So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! (19)

Faamma man ootiya kita bahu biyameenihi fayaqoolu ha omu iqraoo kita biyah (19)

Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! (19)

Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." (20)

Innee th anantu annee mula qin h isa biyah (20)

"I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" (20)

So he will be in a pleasant life - (21)
English Transliteration
Fahuwa fee AAeeshatin rad iyatin (21)

In an elevated garden, (22)
English Transliteration
Fee jannatin AAa liyatin (22)

Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. (23)
English Transliteration
Qut oofuha da niyatun (23)

The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. (23)

[They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." (24)

Kuloo wai shraboo haneean bima aslaftum fee alayya mi alkha liyati (24)

"Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" (24)

But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record (25)

Waamma man ootiya kita bahu bishima lihi fayaqoolu ya laytanee lam oota kita biyah (25)

And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! (25)

And had not known what is my account. (26)
English Transliteration
Walam adri ma h isa biyah (26)

"And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! (26)

I wish my death had been the decisive one. (27)
English Transliteration
Ya laytaha ka nati alqad iyatu (27)

My wealth has not availed me. (28)
English Transliteration
Ma aghna AAannee ma liyah (28)

Gone from me is my authority." (29)

Indeed, he did not used to believe in Allah, the Most Great, (33)

Innahu ka na la yuminu biA lla hi alAAath eemi (33)

Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. (34)
