عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ ٱللَّهِ يُفَجِّرُونَهَا تَفْجِيرًا يُوفُونَ بِٱلنَّذْرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا كَانَ شَرُّهُۥ مُسْتَطِيرًا وَيُطْعِمُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ مِسْكِينًا وَيَتِيمًا وَأَسِيرًا إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ ٱللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمْ جَزَآءً وَلَا شُكُورًا إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوْمًا عَبُوسًا قَمْطَرِيرًا فَوَقَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمِ وَلَقَّىٰهُمْ نَضْرَةً وَسُرُورًا وَجَزَىٰهُم بِمَا صَبَرُوا۟ جَنَّةً وَحَرِيرًا مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ فِيهَا عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ ۖ لَا يَرَوْنَ فِيهَا شَمْسًا وَلَا زَمْهَرِيرًا وَدَانِيَةً عَلَيْهِمْ ظِلَٰلُهَا وَذُلِّلَتْ قُطُوفُهَا تَذْلِيلًا وَيُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِـَٔانِيَةٍ مِّن فِضَّةٍ وَأَكْوَابٍ كَانَتْ قَوَارِيرَا۠ قَوَارِيرَا۟ مِن فِضَّةٍ قَدَّرُوهَا تَقْدِيرًا وَيُسْقَوْنَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا زَنجَبِيلًا عَيْنًا فِيهَا تُسَمَّىٰ سَلْسَبِيلًا ۞ وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَٰنٌ مُّخَلَّدُونَ إِذَا رَأَيْتَهُمْ حَسِبْتَهُمْ لُؤْلُؤًا مَّنثُورًا وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ ثَمَّ رَأَيْتَ نَعِيمًا وَمُلْكًا كَبِيرًا عَٰلِيَهُمْ ثِيَابُ سُندُسٍ خُضْرٌ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٌ ۖ وَحُلُّوٓا۟ أَسَاوِرَ مِن فِضَّةٍ وَسَقَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ شَرَابًا طَهُورًا إِنَّ هَٰذَا كَانَ لَكُمْ جَزَآءً وَكَانَ سَعْيُكُم مَّشْكُورًا إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ تَنزِيلًا فَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تُطِعْ مِنْهُمْ ءَاثِمًا أَوْ كَفُورًا وَٱذْكُرِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا

Tafsir of Surah Al-Insaan (Yusuf Ali: Abdullah Yusuf Ali)

English Translation

A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance].

English Transliteration

AAaynan yashrabu biha AAibadu Allahi yufajjiroonaha tafjeeran

A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance.

English Translation

They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread.

English Transliteration

Yoofoona bialnnathri wayakhafoona yawman kana sharruhu mustateeran

They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide.

English Translation

And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive,

English Transliteration

WayutAAimona alttaAAama AAala hubbihi miskeenan wayateeman waaseeran

And they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive,-

English Translation

[Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude.

English Transliteration

Innama nutAAimukum liwajhi Allahi la nureedu minkum jazaan wala shukooran

(Saying),"We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks.

English Translation

Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful."

English Transliteration

Inna nakhafu min rabbina yawman AAaboosan qamtareeran

"We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord."

English Translation

So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness

English Transliteration

Fawaqahumu Allahu sharra thalika alyawmi walaqqahum nadratan wasurooran

But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy.

English Translation

And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments].

English Transliteration

Wajazahum bima sabaroo jannatan wahareeran

And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk.

English Translation

[They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold.

English Transliteration

Muttakieena feeha AAala alaraiki la yarawna feeha shamsan wala zamhareeran

Reclining in the (Garden) on raised thrones, they will see there neither the sun's (excessive heat) nor (the moon's) excessive cold.

English Translation

And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance.

English Transliteration

Wadaniyatan AAalayhim thilaluha wathullilat qutoofuha tathleelan

And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility.

English Translation

And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass],

English Transliteration

Wayutafu AAalayhim bianiyatin min fiddatin waakwabin kanat qawareera

And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and goblets of crystal,-

English Translation

Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure.

English Transliteration

Qawareera min fiddatin qaddarooha taqdeeran

Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes).

English Translation

And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger

English Transliteration

Wayusqawna feeha kasan kana mizajuha zanjabeelan

And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,-

English Translation

[From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel.

English Transliteration

AAaynan feeha tusamma salsabeelan

A fountain there, called Salsabil.

English Translation

There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls.

English Transliteration

Wayatoofu AAalayhim wildanun mukhalladoona itha raaytahum hasibtahum luluan manthooran

And round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness): If thou seest them, thou wouldst think them scattered Pearls.

English Translation

And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion.

English Transliteration

Waitha raayta thamma raayta naAAeeman wamulkan kabeeran

And when thou lookest, it is there thou wilt see a Bliss and a Realm Magnificent.

English Translation

Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink.

English Transliteration

AAaliyahum thiyabu sundusin khudrun waistabraqun wahulloo asawira min fiddatin wasaqahum rabbuhum sharaban tahooran

Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy.

English Translation

[And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated."

English Transliteration

Inna hatha kana lakum jazaan wakana saAAyukum mashkooran

"Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised."

English Translation

Indeed, it is We who have sent down to you, [O Muhammad], the Qur\'an progressively.

English Transliteration

Inna nahnu nazzalna AAalayka alqurana tanzeelan

It is We Who have sent down the Qur'an to thee by stages.

English Translation

So be patient for the decision of your Lord and do not obey from among them a sinner or ungrateful [disbeliever].

English Transliteration

Faisbir lihukmi rabbika wala tutiAA minhum athiman aw kafooran

Therefore be patient with constancy to the Command of thy Lord, and hearken not to the sinner or the ingrate among them.

English Translation

And mention the name of your Lord [in prayer] morning and evening

English Transliteration

Waothkuri isma rabbika bukratan waaseelan

And celebrate the name of thy Lord morning and evening,
